Trung Nguyen

Trung Nguyen is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law (MPI).

Trung holds an LL.M. in International Legal Studies at the Georgetown University Law Centre in Washington D.C, the United States (Fulbright Student Scholarship). Before joining the MPI in April 2019, he worked as a legal advisor and an accredited diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, dealing with the law of the sea, international trade law and international dispute settlement.

Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the University of Luxembourg working in the framework of the IMPRS for Successful Dispute Resolution in International Law Project. His research interests include public international law, international trade law, law of the sea, and international dispute settlement.


Elena Bertola

Elena Bertola is a Junior Legal Affairs Officer at the Trade in Services and Investment Division at the World Trade Organization.

As part of the WTO Secretariat, she advises WTO Members on the negotiations on Services Domestic Regulation.

She holds a Master in International Law from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies of Geneva (Switzerland, 2019). She previously obtained her Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Turin (Italy, 2017).

Her research interests focus on international trade and investment law for sustainable development.


Kai-Yang Goh

Kai-Yang is a law graduate currently undertaking his supervised legal traineeship at HWL Ebsworth. 

He completed his Bachelor of Laws and Commerce at Monash University in 2020, submitting a final year thesis on global constitutionalism. His other research interests include international public law and dispute settlement as well as international investment law.

Kai-Yang is looking for ways to combine his legal interests with his unique background in actuarial science to leave a lasting impact on the law. 


Scott Falls

Scott Falls is a Canadian lawyer and current candidate of the Geneva LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) program. Scott holds a Juris Doctor degree from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada and a certificate in International Business Law from the Bader International Study Centre (BISC). During JD studies, Scott was actively involved in international moot court competitions, served as a research assistant in international investment law, and participated in the inaugural Joint University of Ottawa-Queen's University TradeLab Clinic.

Prior to joining the MIDS, Scott completed his articles at DLA Piper LLP in Toronto, Canada, where he worked primarily in the firm's commercial litigation department.

Sankari Venkat Krishnan

Sankari graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with an LLM in International Legal Studies and a Certificate in WTO Studies. She is currently an Associate at Clarus Law Associates, New Delhi. 

Aside from work, her research interests include public international law, arbitration, and international trade law with specific focus on developing countries.

Tristan McLeod

Tristan is an Articling Student at a large full-service law firm in Toronto, Canada, and has experience working on large-scale P3 infrastructure projects, commercial real estate transactions, and international mergers and acquisitions transactions. Tristan completed his J.D. at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, and will be called as a lawyer in Ontario in June 2020. 

During his time at Queen's, Tristan participated in the inaugural University of Ottawa - Queen's University Joint TradeLab Clinic as both a student and a Teaching Assistant to Valerie Hughes and Nicolas Lamp. As a student, Tristan worked with the East African Community to develop upgrades to, a non-tariff barrier reporting system used by south and east African countries, including developing a link between complaints and obligations under World Trade Organization Agreements. Tristan also competed in the 2019 John H. Jackson International Trade Law Moot, and worked as a Summer Legal Intern in the Trade Remedies group of the Trade Law Bureau at Global Affairs Canada in the summer of 2018. 

Before pursuing law, Tristan attended DeGroote School of Business, at McMaster University, in Hamilton, Canada, receiving Hon. Bachelor of Commerce with a focus in organizational development and strategy. He also lived in Singapore for four months, attending the National University of Singapore. Outside of work, Tristan is an avid skier, a car connoisseur, and Star Wars enthusiast.

Yannick Trudel

Yannick Trudel is an alumni of the Graduate Institute and worked at the IHEID's clinic in 2018. He also supervised a team of students at the University of Ottawa in 2019, for projects benefiting the government of Senegal and its services industry.

Yannick is currently based in Geneva, working as an associate at Sidley Austin LLP.
